This walk follows the Cuckoo Trail from Heathfield to Horam and then a short distance on the main road to Furnace lane. From Furnace lane a footpath across meadows is followed to Dern Lane. This quiet lane has verges full of wild flowers in the spring and is followed for about a mile. The Vanguard Way is joined for a short time passing Holens Farm. From here more sheep pasture is crossed and then the Wealdway is followed into East Hoathly. From East Hoathly mainly field paths are followed to the small hamlet of Davis’s Town, which is only a cluster of about five houses but not far from the large Barham House. From Barham house more fields are crossed before the quiet Moat Lane is followed to a footpath leading to Waldron playing fields. From Waldron quiet lanes, field paths and woodland paths are followed to the main road near Crossinhand Stud. From here it is just a short walk back into Heathfield.
