Directions:

  1. Exit the car park onto the High street and then turn left. Continue along the High street to the Catholic Church which is on the right. Take the driveway beside the Church car park and where a footpath goes off to the left stay on the drive, following it downhill until it ends at a stile.

  2. Cross over the stile to follow a path between fences to a footbridge and a gate; cross the footbridge and go through the gate into a field. Turn left going down the field with the hedge on the left. At the bottom of the field cross a stile and then continue forward to a footbridge.

  3. Cross the footbridge and then head uphill, keeping the hedge on the right, to a gate in the top right-hand corner of the field (Mottynsden Manor is on the right).

  4. Go through the gate onto a driveway and then turn right. Continue on the driveway to Mottynsden House. Just before you reach the house take a path on the left up a bank into an orchard. Cross a stile into the orchard and then turn right and continue with the hedge on the right to a gate in the corner of the orchard.

  5. Pass through the gate and then cross the driveway to the stile. Cross the stile and then continue beside a wooden fence and up some steps to follow the right-hand edge of the field to a stile in the bottom corner of the field. Go over the stile and cross the track to the stile opposite. Cross this stile and then follow a path to cross another stile into a field.

  6. Keep to the right hand side of the field to a stile, which is at the far end of the field on the left-hand side of a gateway. Cross the stile and then the footpath goes diagonally across the field to just left of the far bottom corner. (At times this path can be ploughed up, in which case, turn left and follow the field boundary keeping the hedge on your left, to the footbridge near the far bottom corner which will be on your left).

Go through the gate and then turn left along the track to a track junction, just before a house. Turn right through the left-hand of the two gates and then continue along a track to the first gateway on the right.

  12. Go through the gate and then bear left diagonally across the field to a gate which is to the left of a small wood and pond. Pass through the gate and then bear left diagonally across the field to the far left corner and locate a stile which is a few yards to the left of the corner.

At the field corner go through a gap in the hedge and continue in the same direction to a stile in the far corner.

  14. DO NOT CROSS THE STILE but turn right and follow the field edge. Do not go through the first gateway but follow the edge of the field around the corner and then turn left onto a track through a small wood.  Continue forward down the left edge of the next two fields. At the bottom of the second field, do not go through the gate, instead take the path through the hedge to the right of the fence corner.

  15. Having gone through the hedge, continue forward on the path between overgrown machinery, keeping the hedge on the right to join an access road. Turn left on the access road and then continue to a road junction.

  16. Turn left on the road and then pass Bearhurst Farm and the industrial units on the left then take a signed path beside a house on the right and follow the enclosed track with a garden hedge on the left and woodland on the right. At the track corner continue forward through the woodland to a stile into a field.

  17. Cross the stile and then bear slightly right going downhill to a gateway. Go through the gateway and then continue uphill with the hedge on the right to a stile. Cross the stile and head straight across the field to a gap in the trees and a gateway.

  18. Pass through the gateway and then turn right following the edge of the field all the way down and along the bottom to exit the field through a gate onto a track.

  19. Turn left on the track towards the farm buildings. Continue on the lower of the two roadways between the buildings and then pass Old Shoyswell Manor on your right and a duck pond on your left.

  20. At the first junction after passing the entrance to Old Shoyswell Manor turn right. Follow the track to a gate into a field. Once through the gate turn left to a gate in the corner of the field. Pass through this gate and then head uphill towards a small woodland which is to the left of the telegraph poles.

  21. Go through a gate next to the woodland and then continue forward with the woodland on the left to a gate. Pass through the gate and then continue forward to cross a stile onto a driveway. Turn right along the driveway to a road. Turn left along the road to the first gate on the right.
